The Berlin artist Sandra Rauch is at home in the metropolises of the world. Travelling is her great passion and starting point for the creation of her works.
The results are intensely colorful, collage-like pictures in the style of Pop Art. Her Acrylic’s of some DreamCities are now on exhibit at Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof.
Numerous invited guests and art lovers came to the official opening of the exhibition with melting pot finger food & drinks of the restaurant BLEND berlin. Sandra Rauch’s Acrylic´s draws the viewer’s gaze into the picture. Even if the motifs appear as if they had been taken with a photo or film camera, they represent a hybrid of photography, painting and collage.
Sandra Rauch was a master student at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden. On numerous journeys they have inspired DreamCities to visual experiments with vertical and horizontal lines. Structures in luminous colour sections, colliding, dissolved and painterly passages are in conflict with rigid, graphic and geometric scores and plots. The much-quoted digitalization has widened the eye of the camera, but also that of the viewer. This offers Sandra Rauch possibilities to combine techniques such as painting, photography, printing and film in a spectacular and completely new way.
“I’m trying to capture the now, what the city is all about right now,” says Sandra Rauch. The exhibition can be visited daily until 27 January 2019.
